Tips for completeing the application Thank you for your interest in the National Academies Keck Futures Initiative (NAKFI) Conference on "The Informed Brain in a Digital World". You must be a registered guest to access the 2012 conference application. To register, click on the "register" button located in the left-hand corner of this page next to "No account yet?". You will be asked to select a username and password, and to enter your email address. You will then receive an email from the "National Academies Keck Futures Initiative" requesting that you activate registration. Once activated, you will be able to complete the application. The application should take 15-30 minutes to complete. You will be asked to provide your contact information and short answer questions about your professional background, which will be used in conference materials (so type carefully!), and to respond to three short essay questions (250 words or less): - Your personal/professional statement (can include information about your research in general, or research related specifically to the conference, professional interests, or other biographical information);
- Key accomplishments related to the conference (e.g., publications, awards/honors, presentations, patents, or other output applicable to your field); and
- The most pressing issue, question, or task that needs to be addressed, answered, or accomplished by an interdisciplinary and inter-professional audience in order to redefine the frontiers of research on the challenges and opportunities presented by a connected world.
You may complete this application in several sessions. Be sure to click on the "save" button at the bottom of the page before exiting the application). Your email must be entered in order to save changes. Each session will expire after one hour for security purposes any changes not saved before session expires will be lost. When you return to update the application, you will be asked to login with your username and password. All changes saved by 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time on March 21th will be accepted. You will receive an email to confirm receipt of your application by Friday, March 23rd.
